Abstract

After the success of Clueless, the clever translation of Jane Austen's Emma, the saga of Hester Prynne has now gone wild in the form of a teen flick. We enter that dizzying world in Will Gluck's new feature Easy A, a film adaptation of Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter. This essay reviews the film by rethinking its clever attempt to include Leslie Fielder's controversial reading of Huck Finn. --author supplied description
