Abstract
This Summer 2004 issue of Renascence is entitled 'Critical Perspectives on Hans-Georg Gadamer.' My contribution takes up two types of misunderstandings of Gadamer's claim about the universality of hermeneutics. These correlate roughly to the way that Derrida and Habermas criticize Gadamer's hermeneutics. I propose a third way to understand the universality claim that Gadamer makes for hermeneutics. --author-supplied description
