Abstract
The online component to the largest collection of astrolabes in the world. The museum of the History of Science in Oxford has more than 150 astrolabes dating from the late ninth ccentury to the early twentieth century and coming from Indian, Persian, Western Islamic, Turkish, and European cultures. The on-line resource makes freely available to the public a complete description of the astrolabes in the collection, including transcription and translation of all inscriptions found on the instruments. The database is completely searchale and high-resolution photographs of each instrument is available on-line. --author-supplied description
